Track & Field

The Sunburn Classic has been cancelled for this year and we will only have the Valley Champs Track & Field Meet.  The date of the Valley Champs is Friday May 8 with a rain date of June 11.  Students who handed in forms to qualify for the Manitoba Games will get their opportunity to do so at the Valley Champs.

Marathon Training - May 28

Since our Sunburn Classic has been cancelled for Monday May 28, we will be having a training run instead to make up for this past week's miss because of the blast of winter weather we received. We will have an 8km run afterschool. Thanks! If anyone is available to run the water staton for us this coming Monday please let me know!

Sunburn Classic - May 28

The annual Sunburn Classic has been cancelled for Monday May 28 due to construction on it for the Manitoba Summer Games.  Once a new date has been established, I will pass the information along!

Water Stations for May 22 & 24

Hoping there is someone out there able to help out this week with a water station for our marathon training on Tues May 22 and Thu May 24?  Mrs Osatchuk is unavailable for those 2 dates and looking for someone to replace her for this week.  Please let me know if you are available.  I will also mention to the runners tomorrow as some of you may not see this post.  Thanks a bunch!

Manitoba Summer Games - Track & Field

Registration forms are due Wednesday May 16 to Mr Moncrief.  Please remember they are allowed to select up to 5 events to qualify for and there is a $5 tryout fee.  This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of the Manitoba Summer Games and qualify without leaving the Valley.  I received some already and hope to see even more!

Manitoba Summer Games - Track & Field

Those students in grades 6-8 are able to qualify for the Manitoba Summer Games Track & Field at the Sunburn Classic on May 28.  If your child is interested in trying out for some events, they need to get an entry form from Mr. Moncrief as entries are due Wednesday May 16.  I will be talking to students in class and send forms home with those interested.  If interested, the form and a $5 try out are to be returned by Wednesday May 16.  A full list of available events and information will be available in the information package sent home.

Badminton Valley Champs

Congratulations to our Cobras Badminton Team on a strong showing at this year's Valley Champs.  We finished tied for first place in the team standings and needed to go to three separate tie breakers before ending up in second place.  Couldn't get much closer!!  Congrats to our players who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their respective events.  These players included...

Milk Spirit Week (April 23-27)

Monday April 23 = Cool MOOOve Day - dress cool for the day in sunglasses, hats, colourful clothes, etc

Tuesday April 24 = Black & White Day - dress in black & white

Wednesday April 25 = How Big is The Herd? - students count cows (pictures) in the hallway, submit their answers to the office and have a chance to win a prize.

Thursday April 26 = Lifeskills Students selling 2 cookies & white milk for $2.00 with proceeds going towards their class trip

Friday April 27 = Farmer Friday - dress like a cow or farmer

** Prizes will be awarded during the week as well!! Have fun!!

Badminton Nights for Grades 5-8

A reminder to all Grade 5-8 students that your opportunity to play badminton this week has arrived! Badminton nights will take place as follows:

Grade 5 = Mon April 16 @ SVRSS (6pm-9pm)
Grade 6 = Tue April 17 @ SVRSS (6pm-9pm)
Grade 7 = Wed April 18 @ SVRSS (6pm-9pm)
Grade 8 = Thu April 19 @ SVRSS (6pm-9pm)

Please let me know if you are attending so I may have a racquet & jersey ready for you to use. You will need to be dressed properly (running shoes & shorts). You will also need to bring snacks or eat before hand as you won't have time to leave the gym. Participate in as many events as you can , play honestly and have fun!! Good luck to everyone attending!!
